Time: Sat, Mar 30, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Location: Hidden Valley Nature Center
Presented by Morten Moesswilde, District Forester, Maine Forest Service, this mini-course is a condensed version of more in-depth, multi-session woodland owner classes (next offered in fall 2019). We’ll discuss key topics of interest to landowners of 5-500 acres – including how forests grow, how to get the most out of your woodland, and resources for landowners. A checklist on planning for a successful timber harvest will round out the program. After a short break at 12 (brown bag lunch if you wish), we’ll go for an optional hour+/ walk to discuss forest conditions and view some of HVNC’s forest thinning projects.
Morten Moesswilde is District Forester for the midcoast region for Maine Forest Service. His work includes presentations, tours and workshops, for all ages, as well as individual assistance to forest landowners, community and municipal groups. He has been with Maine Forest Service since 1999.
