Time: Fri, Feb 24, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Location: Sheepscot Valley
Friday, February 24, from 6-8 pm at the Midcoast Conservancy office in Wiscasset, beaver expert Skip Lisle will be talking about his work with beavers, and his unique “Beaver Deceiver”, one of which was recently installed on Midcoast Conservancy property in Montville.
A bit about Skip: “Beaver Deceivers International (BDI) was started in 2001 by inventor and wildlife biologist Skip Lisle. Based in Grafton, Vermont (USA) it is a small company with a continental and worldwide reach. Our goal is to make the unavoidable interactions between humans and beavers less expensive and more valuable and enjoyable. Our extensive background in science, wildlife management, wetlands ecology, and construction has led to original, high quality, “fixed” property defenses that solve conflicts (particularly flooding) for decades without having to extirpate beavers. Having worked at hundreds of diverse sites in North America and Poland, we have established an unprecedented success rate while never having to kill a beaver. As a long-lasting, low-maintenance remedy for beaver-human conflicts, and as a money-saving device for our customers, our products represent the greatest available value. As a complementary service, we also teach; we have shared our knowledge at scores of presentations and workshops throughout much of North America and in many European countries.”
Suggested donation of $10
Skip will also be speaking Wednesday, February 22nd , 6 – 8 pm at Waterfall Arts, Belfast; and
he will be giving a kid-oriented presentation at the Liberty Library on Thursday, Feb. 23rd from 10:30 am-12 pm.
