Time: Tue, Aug 1 - Thu, Aug 3, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Location: Hidden Valley Nature Center
This free skills workshop is designed for participants ages 12-15 who are comfortable with mountain bikes and canoes and want to take their skills to the next level. Participants will have the opportunity to take a deeper dive and develop their skills in canoeing, mountain biking, Stand Up Paddleboarding and leave-no-trace camping through structured and thoughtful approaches. The program will be centered around Little Dyer Pond, which is a 110 acre Great Pond with no public access. Little Dyer is a serene gem and offers local youth an authentic back country experience with the convenience of a day-program.
Over the course of the three days, participants will have the opportunity to learn by challenging themselves in a supportive setting. Our instructors will also provide guidance for future adventures by teaching what to pack and how to prepare before heading out on the trail. Our hope is that this experience opens the door for a future of exploration and adventure for participants and their families at HVNC and beyond.
