“Wild Spring” Nature Walk

Hidden Valley Nature Center | Sat, May 11 | All Ages

Time: Sat, May 11, 9:00 am - 11:30 am

Location: Hidden Valley Nature Center

The main focus of this walk, led by Dan Townsend, will likely be wildflowers but we will take any chance to sample the wild exuberance of spring in the woods and waters of HVNC. We might see lady-slippers, trillium or rhodora blooming, but certainly will see many smaller but no less spectacular other wildflowers. Trees and shrubs are donning their spring-green foliage while more subtly (than wildflowers) doing their own reproductive thing. And of course animals of invertebrate or vertebrate persuasion are delighting in the return of warmth and wet in their own myriad ways. We’ll sample as much of it as time allows and opportunity presents.

Dr. Townsend is a retired biology professor from University of Scranton. He’s a wealth of knowledge on all subjects. He now spends most of his time at his homestead in Whitefield.
