Time: Wed, Jan 31, 9:00 am - 11:30 am
Please join us to learn about a great way to give back to Maine wildlife: monitoring wood duck nest boxes! Wildlife Biologist Kendall Marden of the ME Dept. of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife will be leading this exciting event.
Meet at Sheepscot General Store at 9 am. The first hour of the training will focus on IF&W’s Nest Box program, the importance of wood ducks in Maine, and wood duck biology. Then we’ll carpool to Whitefield Salmon Preserve to check on a few existing next boxes.
We are actively seeking new volunteers to monitor nest boxes, so if you’re excited by the training, you can sign up to get an assignment for this winter!
Coffee and treats from Sheepscot General Store will be provided. Please RSVP so we can make sure to have snacks for everyone. Be prepared to hike approximately 1 mile on snowy trails as we visit the nest boxes during the practical part of the training.
