First Flakes!

The first accumulating snow of the season fell over the Thanksgiving break. We’re so lucky in midcoast Maine that the transition from colorful fall foliage to clean, white snow is often so short-lived!

With more snow chances in the forecast over the next few weeks, we are looking forward to skiing, snowshoeing, fat tire biking and all the other winter activities here at Hidden Valley Nature Center (HVNC). Make sure to check our events page frequently and follow our social media accounts to learn about full moon hikes, ski clinics, and all sorts of other winter recreation opportunities!

In the meantime, our staff and volunteers are continually working to make HVNC a special place to experience natural splendor and diverse habitats. HVNC founder Bambi Jones and some Maine Master Naturalists recently pruned the boardwalk path at the bog…check out the before and after photos below. Thanks Bambi and crew!
