Season after Season
midcoast maine is thriving Because of your support!
Year End Appeal 2025
Conservation doesn’t happen in a single season—it’s the year-round cycle of care that keeps forests thriving, wetlands resilient, rivers healthy, and wildlife moving freely. With your support, Midcoast Conservancy protects and stewards the lands and waters that define our region, and are restoring fish passage, safeguarding clean water, maintaining trails and public access, and inspiring our conservation community to environmental stewardship in their own backyards.
Your gift today fuels this vital work and ensures these landscapes remain strong and vibrant. Now through January 15, every gift will be doubled up to $25,000 thanks to a generous match from an anonymous donor—your support goes twice as far for the lands and waters of midcoast Maine.

Upcoming Changes to Charitable Giving in 2026
Recent federal tax law changes taking effect in 2026 may influence how some donors plan their giving. Here are the key points to know as you consider your 2025 contribution:
Standard deduction filers: Beginning in 2026, all taxpayers will be able to deduct limited charitable gifts ($1,000 for individuals; $2,000 for couples). If you typically give more than these amounts, making your gift in 2025 may offer a greater benefit.
Itemizers: Two changes will begin in 2026:
Charitable deductions will only apply once annual giving exceeds 0.5% of AGI.
The top deduction rate will decrease from 37% to 35%, slightly reducing the benefit of larger gifts.
Some donors are choosing to be intentional about their 2025 charitable giving, and we want to ensure our supporters have the information they need as these changes approach. Every situation is unique, so we encourage you to consult your tax professional.
This resource from the Land Trust Alliance provides additional information about the changes that impact nonprofits and conservation, which will generally take effect at the beginning of 2026, and how the legislation might affect not only the land trust community’s fundraising efforts but also ongoing discussions with landowners about conservation easements.
We greatly appreciate how your generosity helps us protect the lands and waters of midcoast Maine. Thank you for your support!
